UniCollege is proud to announce the success of its latest Blood Donation Drive, held on 10 September. A total of 50 units of blood were donated by students and faculty, marking a new record for the college since the event's inception in 2013. This donation drive, a core part of UniCollege's social responsibility initiatives, has been held three times a year to support the local community and raise awareness about the importance of giving blood.
Each unit of blood donated has the potential to save up to three lives, meaning the 50 units collected could help save the lives of as many as 150 individuals. This achievement highlights the dedication and generosity of both students and staff in their ongoing commitment to making a positive impact on society.
Jackie Loots, UniCollege’s General Manager, expressed her pride in the community: "At UniCollege, we encourage not just academic excellence but also active participation in efforts that make a difference in the lives of others. Breaking this record is a testament to the compassion and dedication of our students and faculty."
The Blood Donation Drive has grown steadily in size and impact over the past decade. By working closely with the South African National Blood Service (SANBS), UniCollege ensures that each event runs smoothly and that every donation reaches those in critical need.
